Command Utilities

Each utility listed below describes the problem it is designed to solve. For details on how the tool functions (syntax, return codes, error messages, etc.) click on the name of the script listed that solves that particular problem.

AutoSys specific - Generate a template of preformatted JIL

Generating JIL for production environments can be lengthy and tedious. With this tool, you can generate a template to work from for a quicker JIL development.

Generates/replicates a preformatted JIL file to use as a template.

AutoSys specific - GUI button on console for easy viewing of job logfiles

Many times it becomes necessary to view the job log of a particular job, especially when a job fails. Unfortunately, locating the std_out and std_err for that particular job can be troublesome in a large environment. With this script, you can view the job log for that job with one easy step. This script can even be integrated into a button on the AutoSys GUI for easy access of job log information by operators.

Reads the logfile of the AutoSys job and prints it to the screen. This is extremely useful for error checking. This utility can be placed into the AutoCons configuration file as a button which users can click and view the log file.

AutoSys specific - Output and append auto_remote logs to one file for troubleshooting

Processes don't always run as cleanly as we would like them to, even in a stable production environment. On occasion, it would be helpful to read the full description of each process running within AutoSys so that it could be easier to decipher the reason for failure. With this tool, you can receive all the information related to every job and it's processes and have it copied to an output file for troubleshooting.

Logs each auto_remote log to an output file, allowing you to capture what is currently happening in AutoSys the moment the script is launched.

AutoSys specific - Update a JIL file automatically with error reporting

Many times it may become necessary to update a large amount of JIL into the production AutoSys database. This can be cumbersome and time-consuming. With this script, the entire process is automated, providing better error checking and quicker processing as well.

Inserts JIL from a file to the production AutoSys database in one step, as opposed to the manual process of updating JIL.

Find jobs with a given command string and report the latest status

In a large environment it can sometimes be hard to keep track of which jobs run which commands. With this script, all you need is the command syntax which is run in the job, and you can locate the job name. The script also returns the last status the job was in.

Prints status of jobs with the defined command string and job names that match the specified parameters. Very useful for operators or other personnel who are trying to match a particular command with a job and it's description, but don't know that actual name of the job.
Formats the output file with page breaks for easy printing and viewing.

Kill NT services automatically and notify users via email

NT services occasionally lock up and the only remedy is to kill these services. With this utility, a user can automate this process before critical interfaces run to avoid any potential problems.

Kills the NT service indicated when run.
Netsend.prl Notifies users via email when the services are killed. This works together with KillServices.prl to provide notification of this automation procedure.
Deletes the header portion of an e-mail. This is useful when compacting e-mail files.
